24 Hours/24 Poems

So I came across this crazy/wonderful challenge on Jason Preu’s blog recently & immediately wanted to participate. So I did. I wrote one poem for every hour of the day on 24 March 2022, starting 12:00 AM IST.

I’ve never quite attempted any Daily Writing Challenge before because all of them require a certain amount of commitment, which I suppose I’ve never really been able to muster. So I’m glad I could stick this one out!

Obliviate

Forgetfulness is magic

                          we live & die a little each day

I used to think it tragic

         now I wouldn’t have it any other way

It’s the remembering

that makes life tedious

Who said what –  did what – to who(m) 

Hoarding these memories thinking they’re precious

Isn’t the moment just as precious too?

I’d never thought of forgetting this way before

I see it now, for the gift that it is

What are cliches, but oft repeated truths?

Ignorance yields the highest bliss.

Honestly, I should just stop.

Look Me In The Eye.

Look me in the eye – and lie

Cause I don’t ever want to know that

I – can’t fly.

Marvel at my foolishness,

But don’t wake me up

If I’ve finally learnt to smile

Then, I don’t ever want to stop.

And say a prayer in my name

If you must leave so soon

Heave a sigh and walk away

I’ll look for you in the full moon

Look me in the eye the next time

Because everybody lies

Mirror my anguish

Transcend my pain

… Say Goodbye.
